Word-Filled Wednesday ~#84~ Easter Was Not the End
"He [Jesus] said the them, '. . . Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms' . . . When He had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He was blessing them, He left them and was taken up into heaven." ~Luke 24:44, 50-51
"Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." ~John 21:25
". . . He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.
They were looking intently up into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 'Men of Galilee,' they said, 'why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, Who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.'" ~Acts 1:10-11
How was your Easter? Now the we have heard a great sermon, worshiped and had a day with family around us, did life return to normal for you? Yes, me, too.
We're so human. We act like Easter was the end of it all. Oh, it is THE DAY on our Christian calendar ~ the day that sealed it all. The day that we treat as the cherry on top of all that Jesus has done.
But that's all wrong!
So many of us live like Jesus is past tense. No, no, no! He is STILL alive! That's the whole point of celebrating His resurrection ~ He AROSE from the dead. He is still living and active in ours lives.
His resurrection and ascension was only the beginning of the preparation for His RETURN. Yes, Easter was NOT the end. Never forget what the angels told the disciples after they watched Jesus taken into heaven" [He] will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven."
We have no idea when this will take place, but it will take place. Jesus said it would and He never breaks a promise. It could be any day. How exciting!
"Therefore, encourage each other with these words." ~1 Thess. 4:18
