The Simple Woman's Daybook ~#65~ 1/9/10

For Today...

Outside my window...Snow, snow & more snow. We had 12" Friday-Saturday & 6" more coming today. Cold. And always more beautiful when you can watch from inside a cozy, warm home. Folks in the eastern-most states are getting it worse than us. UP DATE: The weather man has changed our forecast to 10"-12" more!!!

I am thinking...That the snow will stop & roads will be cleared so that I can still do my speaking engagement tonight. UP DATE: Speaking engagement post-poned til next month.

I am thankful for...Speaking engagements! :-) What a blessing that people enjoy what I have to share...and what a joy to share it. Also, we got together w/a group of our very best friends on Super Bowl night. We are blessed by their friendship.

From the kitchen...Broccoli & cheese soup, baking bread. Making laundry detergent. NOT in the same pot as the soup! lol

I am earing...Grey sweat pants & burgandy sweat shirt. It's COLD!

I am remembering…Old friends.

I am going…NOWHERE, if this snow keeps up like the news says it will!

I am reading..."Lies Women Believe" for my Sunday School class. We will finish it this Sunday.

I am hoping...For answers to big prayers.

On my mind…my mom. And, on another note, the legalism that some dear Christians get wrapped up in & they don't even know it. Sometimes they hinder - even w/in the Body of Christ - more than they help...even w/the best of intentions.

I am creating...a tidy home.

I am hearing...the radio.

Noticing that…it is beyond beautiful outside my window.

Pondering these words…"God is God even when life stinks. HE knows where HE's taking me & where HE wants me to be." ~From Sunday's sermon.

Around the house...A lazy, snowed-in day. DD#2 is off of work & we can't go anywhere. I see cleaning, cooking & DVDs in our immediate future. :-)

One of my favorite things...munching on a handful of fresh snow.

A Scripture thought...II Cor. 10:13 ~ "We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the field God has assigned to us, a field that reaches even to you."

A few plans for the rest of the week...Digging out of the snow! Winter Olympics begin on Friday.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

From Friday night. I was standing under a tree in our back yard that was weighed down by the snow & the snow was falling all around me. The photo does it NO justice...it was so quiet & beautiful beyond words.

  1. Hi Kim: It's interesting that you mentioned legalism...I have recently come out of legalism. I'll post on it sometime. It's sad that when someone is bound by it they don't see it themselves, until the Lord takes the veil from their eyes.

I smiled when you mentioned munching on the snow. If you pour some maple syrup (we use the real stuff!) on the snow and let it sit a minute, then wrap it around a spoon, you'll have a nice sweet toffee-like treat. You might like that.

We're supposed to get some snow today and tomorrow, totalling about 4-6" (10-15 cm). I'll stock up on some things today and then enjoy staying put for awhile. I think it's nice when the snow slows down the pace a bit.

Enjoy the rest of the day, I hope things go well for you tonight at your speaking engagement (if you can get there) :-)

  2. Enjoyed your post. Thanks for stopping by my blog, again.

The one good thing about all this snow - it makes for awesome pictures!! I love the tree pic - it looks like big powdery puff balls falling from it.

    Keep warm - keep safe!!
