Word-Filled Wednesday ~#92~ More are with Us Than Against Us

"When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. 'Oh, my lord, what shall we do?' the servant asked.

"'Don't be afraid,' the prophet answered. 'Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.'

"And Elisha prayed, 'O LORD, open his eyes so he may see.' Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." ~II Kings 6:15-17

This past Sunday, as our worship leader, Greg, was leading into the song "Mighty to Save" by Hillsong, he asked the congregation, "How many of your have every watched 'Mighty to Save' on Youtube?" Three hands went up. He then made the observation that when he watched it, he noticed that, at that time, there had been MORE THAN 19 million views. The point being that if only 3 people from our service had viewed that video, then there were obviously MORE THAN 19 million other believers out there!

It immediately made me think of Elisha and his servant. They were, seemingly, up against great odds. Their lives were in danger simply because Elisha was a man of God who spoke God's word with boldness.

Historically, all of two of our Founders were men of great faith ~ many were even ordained ministers ~ and even the ones who didn't share our faith respected the teachings of Christianity. Those teachings represented the freedom of every man through faith in Jesus Christ that our country was founded upon. Even though England's King sent his great army to fight against "mere" civilian soldiers, with the help and protection of God, our rag-tag armies found that more were with them than against them.

As Christians, we it hard to get past seeing what goes on in our physical word, but God has a plan! He works in every realm ~ especially the spiritual ~ and His works are all around us. Whether we see them or not . . .

"Those who are with us are more than those what are with them."

  1. Truly founded on the principles of Jewish/Christian principles. Non Christians and atheists seem to have no conception of this fact and do not realize how much better the world is due to Jesus.
