The Simple Woman's Daybook ~#136~ 10/4/11

For Today . . .

Outside my window . . . lovely morning sunshine, clear blue sky & changing maple trees in our back yard. Ahhhh, fall.

I am thinking . . . that I love it when God shows His artistic skills. There's no other Painter like Him.

I am thankful for . . . my family. Love my man, love our girls.

From the kitchen . . . bread baking day. Yum! There's nothing like the fragrance of fresh bread wafting through a cozy house on a cool day.

I am wearing . . . jeans, dusty brown Lakeside hoodie . . . 'tis the season for comfy hoodies.

I am creating . . . a peaceful, Christ-centered home.

I am going . . . to take DD#2 to work & then to work later today.

I am wondering . . . why people like to spread rumors through the family tree ~ as I hear it, I apparently didn't shed the appropriate amount of tears at my mom's funeral. :-/ Sheesh. Never mind that we had been crying for 2 weeks before she passed or . . . "Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope." ~I Thess. 4:13

I am reading . . . "The Story" & it's companion book, "The Heart of the Story," along w/the suggested daily Scripture prompts & Bible study that goes w/it. Our entire church ~ including all Sunday sermons, all ages of Sunday Schools & Wednesday nights ~ are using this to go through the Bible in chronological order. It is deep & good.

I am hoping . . . for the resolution of some issues that have arisen ~ & such is life.

I am looking forward to . . . celebrating our 27th anniversary on Thursday!!!

I am hearing . . . the radio, Maggie barking at something she sees outside the window.

Around the house . . . general pick up, finishing up some fall decorations.

One of my favorite things . . . hiking or riding horses through the fall woods.

A few plans for the rest of the week . . . family time, work, seeing some old friends, Sunday worship.

Pondering these words . . . "Everything begins w/God. The universe, the galaxies, our little planet, men & women ~ all were God's idea. His vision was to spend eternity in a perfect community enjoying the fellowship of people He created in His own image. He CHOSE to bring you & me into the world for His pleasure, & to this day He yearns to be WITH you. To walk beside you & experience all of life w/you, in both the deepest valleys & the highest mountains." ~The Heart of the Story; p. 28.

Scripture thought . . . "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart & with all your soul & with all your mind.' This is the 1st & greatest commandment. And the 2nd is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law & the Prophets hang of these 2 commandments." ~Matt. 22:37-40 ~~The WHOLE LAW is summarized in: 1) love God, 2) love people. (from Sunday's sermon)
