"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." ~Ps. 19:1
"How many are Your works, O LORD! In wisdom You made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures." ~Ps. 104:24
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline." ~Prov. 1:7
"Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm. He said: 'Who is this that darkens My counsel with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me. Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell Me, if you understand . . . Have you ever given orders to the morning ? . . . Surely you know, for you were already born! You have lived so many years! Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail ? . . . Do you give the horse his strength ? . . . Does the hawk take flight by your wisdom ? . . . Then Job replied to the LORD: . . . Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know." ~selected verses from Job 38-42
I am constantly astounded by the hubris of mankind. There seems to be a deep-seated pride in our fallen, sinful hearts that says that we can live this life on our own. "I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul!" And God lovingly looks down upon His lost sheep and says, "Hmmm, not so much."
Most of us don't have to think too far back for a mental example of how we tried to live our life by ignoring God; without having the in-dwelling Holy Spirit to guide our choices and give us discernment. But now, because of His influence, we see truth, God's truth, in every person and every situation . . .
While the world looks at a mom-to-be and sees that she is carrying a "product of conception," we rejoice that God is at work inside her body as He is fearfully and wonderfully knitting together a precious child (Ps. 139:13-16). He has already chosen the color of it's eyes, the wriggle of it's 10 little toes, how many years it's heart will beat, even what will passed from this babe to generations beyond.
While the world watches the weather to know what to wear to work or school the next day, or tries to turn God's creation into a political opportunity, and even though it seems that we in Ohio can experience all four seasons in one day; we know that we are blessed with cycles of change and provision that are as constant as the spring rains, the summer sun, the harvests and color of fall, and the soft snows of winter.
While the world pushes and shoves to make a name for themselves, while they try to scheme and connive their way to the top; we do our best, put our talents and plans in the hands of the Lord and trust that if we have faith in Him and humble ourselves that He will lift us up. (James 4:10)
God is not "threatened" by the pride of mankind, He loves us enough to continue to bless us with His gifts and guidance and draws us to Himself. We don't have to have all the answers when unbelievers challenge our faith because we know Who's in charge and we have His Word and all of creation to use as an endless illustration of the reality and goodness of it's Creator.

Ahhh, my dear friend, how true are your words that God is not "threatened" by the pride of mankind! If He were we would all be doomed. Thank you for t he Scriptures that you shared today, Kim, and for your thoughts on how the world views things and how we as Christians see life from such a different perspective! I appreciate you, Kim!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a powerful message, Kim. I loved it. God is everywhere and I love the scripture that say: Be Still and Know That I Am God.
ReplyDeleteI know that God lives and Jesus is the Christ. I couldn't function without knowing that. I need God in my daily life. I don't think we do very well without him and actually he is only a prayer away.
Blessings for your thoughts today.
