Word-Filled Wednesday ~#70~ The Season Declares His Glory

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is not speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." ~Psalm 19:1-4

"Let the heavens rejoice, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; they will sing before the LORD . . . " ~Psalm 96:11-13(a)
 "Yet He has not left Himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; He provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy." ~Acts 14:17
"I tell you," He [Jesus] replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." ~Luke 19:40
Fall is my favorite time of year. I revel in the crisp, chilly days of "sweater weather," the gathering of harvest, farmers in their fields, the Old Order German Baptists in my county driving their vegetable-laden wagons into town. The golden sunsets, the falling leaves and the colors that can simply take your breath away. Spring is lovely, but in my humble opinion, fall is when God shows off His artistic skills.

How great is our God
How can anyone miss the evidence of His love and care for us? His perfect timing of every season, the diverseness of each season, the provisions each season brings, different star patterns in the sky ~ even the Aurora Borealis reaches down to us from time-to-time. How can we keep from rejoicing?
If you take the time to watch the animals, you will see how He takes care of them ~ everything from nuts to gather, a change in their camouflaging color, and even a long winter's nap.

How great is our God!

Hymn writers have long recognized God's amazing love expressed to us throughout nature. My favorite verse of "How Great Thou Art" is often over-looked:
 "When through the woods and forest glades I wonder
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze;
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sing my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!"

This is the perfect time of year to give praise to the Lord and join all nature in declaring His glory. Don't let the rocks beat you to it!

  3. That is so beautiful and true! I know He "daily loads us with benefits" (Ps. 68:19), but it seems like He outdoes Himself in the fall.
    Blessings, Gin
