Word-Filled Wednesday ~#16~ 12/29/10
PASSAGE: Luke 17:11-19 ~ Now on His way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria & Galilee. As He was going into a village, 10 men who had leprosy met Him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"
When He saw them, He said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.
One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet & thanked Him - & he was a Samaritan.
Jesus asked, "Were not all 10 cleansed? Where are the other 9? Was no one found to return & give praise to God except this foreigner?" Then He said to him, "Rise & go; your faith has made you well."
LESSON LEARNED: "New Year's Day" ~ the annual Day of New Beginnings! And don't we ALL need new beginnings?
But at the end of the Old Year, have you given thought to how the Lord has blessed you in this year? It's been a hard, hard year for many of us, but God is still on His throne. Do we appreciate that? Do we tell Him that we appreciate that?
Or are we like those 9 lepers who, after being healed (or after having food on our table, a home to live in, a car to drive, a job, good health, loving family, a church where we fit in & enjoy the teaching & leadership of faithful pastors) simply go on our way? Saying nothing & taking it all for granted? We enjoy the blessings but often forget to say "thank You" to the Lord Who blessed us so. Things are not easy in this economy & in this point of HIStory, but we are still blessed beyond what we deserve & should show our gratitude for the Lord's care & blessings.
While we are praying for the Lord's blessing upon the New Year, let's not forget to take stock in all that He, by His grace & mercy, has brought us through THIS year. And, like that ONE leper, let us bow at Jesus' feet & thank Him for all He has done.

I loved this message, Kim. It is so important to stop and thank God for all that he has blessed us with; Protection, health, food, warmth, love, etc. Instead of burning forever in hell we can live with him one day. Thanks God! :)
