Little Eyes are Watching
Oh, how I hate that old saying, "Children learn more from what it caught than taught." Way too convicting.
When my oldest (now 22) was a toddler, I was trying to buckle those irritatingly stiff little buckles on her Sunday pantent-leather shoes. Being in a hurry & having trouble w/stiff little buckles is never a good combo.
The week before we were going through the same routine & while I was trying to get those buckles to work, I was scowling and muttering "crud, crud, crud" under my breath ~ and most likely, through grit teeth. The next Sunday, I noticed that while repeating the routine, she was scowling and was softly saying something while I was fighting w/those buckles again. As I listened closely I could hear her saying, "cwud, cwud, cwud!"
I could feel the blood draining from my face. :-/
It was one of those "OK, Lord, I hear you" moments. Am I alone here?
Blessings from Ohio...Kim<><
I keep reminding myself that this time is coming, and coming soon here! Every day that passes is another day closer to having a little sponge following me around the house. I just pray the Lord is ever constant in His gentle reproof over the next decade in our house. It's all so exciting, and thoroughly frightening at the same time!
ReplyDeleteoh Kim, how true it is and how convicting! Our children's pastor's sermon at chapel this past week also was on that we will be judged on very thought and every word spoken... very convicting!!
ReplyDeleteOh how I can relate LOL! They always remember the things we wish they wouldn't :) .
ReplyDeleteAnd now that my children are grown with children of their own, I have grandchildren who watch with wide open eyes and listen with wide open ears! Thanks for sharing today, Kim.
ReplyDeleteHello there you do not know me but I am trying to get you amessage from Mommy of two little blessings to let you know that she has been unable to you a comment on your new page here. If you could leave her a message on how to change that situation, she would love to share her comments with you still. Sincerely, Mommy of three
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! Many years ago I had an eye-opener when my little daughter answered me(in her adorable little-girl voice), "Nowt now. Ah'm beesy."
ReplyDeleteEeks! Was I too busy for her?
